Jolei !~

Hey Blogster...

its been a week ey =)

You know...there are times when you'd dream of one thing
Like.. just day dream and think about it
And wishing that one day it would happen
Yea... I've been dreaming too
And wow... it came true =)

Snapped at the chance when Jihad offered me to join the Community Drumming Festival. Sounded like something new and fun..so yeah just thot i'mma givit a try. And boy did i really enjoy everybit of it...

1st day at St Gabriel Sec was already awesome.. how lucky we were that it was da training centre for the Djembe Percussion!!! Kau...like... what more could we ask for seh!!! Me and Jad are total freakheads when it comes to djembe drums.. Ok lah for those of you yg ada lembab sket.. djembe ni is an African tribal drum.. from West Africa.. pat Mali sana... So anyway.. The people from Lila's Drums.. Kelvin, Shahrul, and Jason, were our instructors and they were awesome in everyway man..
Somehow i guess Kelvin knew that Jad, Idafi, Mat, Marleen, and me could pick up the lead djembe and he gave da front line to us.. fantabulous man.. 5 raw talents playing upfront to lead a group of some 200 crazy lower sec kids.. and really man they are crazy shit dey drive people nuts with their attitude seh..

Kkk back to the story.. we trained for 2 days under Kelvin as he thought us a piece which was titled "Jolei".. said he learnt it from a fren from West Africa.. Hehehe somehow we all could pick it up quite fast.. and it grooves like.. i dunno.. the best beats that i could ever imagine to be playing.. Fingers hurting and swelling.. kids screaming and fighting.. it was pure African jungle man..

And did u know..we were playing on brand new djembe drums freshly imported from the U.S. , 700 bucks... and we got to lay our hands on it 1st.. tune it.. and made it our passion for that four days.. And i still miss holding my djembe and drumming around n running like an Red Indian with it.. Darn it rocks like everything man..

Training was on Weds and Thurs, den had rehearsal at ITE East College on Friday. Kau..that college is friggin nice ah..jealous haram seh.. Friggin airconditioned indoor stadium.. basketball hoops lowered from da ceiling.. friggin nice fountain.. i wanna burn it down =p

Ok lets skip rehearsal and go to da big day.. Saturday.. D-Day... Time to show em wat we've got.. all suit up in our dirty green tshirt, jeans, and kickass bandanas.. we were dressed to Jolei bebeh!!! 4 guys and a girl inna centre.. frontline drummers just ready to lay down some African kickass to da crowd.. GIMME SOME SHUGAAH!!! I guess Kelvin really knew how to grab the show man..he arranged everything so well.. i really think the crowd loved us.. the darn kids were awesome.. and i guess all we wanted to do was have fun and let lose all passion that's from within.. How often could u get 4 guys shaking their booties and prancing around like Indians wif djembes man..and still be playing the correct syncronised beat~ If only u saw... =) You'd definitely wanna join us... Definitely..

I could only describe so much, but if only you could feel the burning passion that charged thru us everytime we hit the djembe and ran around.. all soaked up in sweat and still beating it all over.. If only you could feel how we felt.. If only your hands would speak of the same passion as us.. If only.. Only you'll understand what i'm trying to say..

Dreams like this could only come once... and i lived it for 4 days.. 4 days.. doing what i loved for 4 days.. and den performing it in front of the grandstand.. the lights.. the sound.. the aura... everyone...everything.. This dream that i thought would only be for moments when i'm all blur during lectures or riding da train home.. this dream just came true and it had me by the edge..

When will we realise that opportunities like these don't come all da time.. When will we realise that nothing will stop us when our passion burns greater and greater.. When will you realise that what seems to be dreams are meant to be lived.. O when will you realise... ?
To the gang from Lila's Drums, Kelvin Shahrul and Jason.. you guys are the best and coolest kickass mentors i've ever had.. You guys just taught me that such passion shouldnt be put to sleep.. Coz you'll only live with it once.. Thanx to Jad for inviting me.. to Idafi Mat Marleen.. you guys are the best craziest frontliners to beat da shit outta those drums.. and to the friggin noisy kids of St Gabriel.. you guys shd learn to shut up.. =p hahaha...you guys are like the craziest little brothers..drives people up the wall and down again and up and down and over and over.. you get the picture ryte~ =p

At then end of the day..even though i'm still shagged by all that has happened.. even though my shoulders are still aching.. even though my fingers are cacat already.. i think i did take care of myself.. yeah i had like alot of people telling me to sit still at home and rest..but yeah.. i took care of myself and i'm feeling great..just need more rest and i'mma be good =)

I'mma put da Drumming Festival pics in my bucket...hit me wif u wanna see it =)

*PS : Ipin dah besar nak kompol duit beli djembe =p

Thanks to everyone..

Efin
